How Mitrofanoff Support can help healthcare professionals and patients
Mitrofanoff Support aims to help you and your patients feel supported by:
-
Providing presentations from a patients' perspective and how they cope post-operatively.
-
Suggesting some questions that patients might want to ask the doctors before having surgery.
-
Putting patients in touch with other patients, parents, carers or family members. This can be beneficial both before the procedure, so patients can ask questions about other people’s experiences of having a Mitrofanoff and afterwards, as the patient learns to use the Mitrofanoff, when they may want to “compare notes” with others who have been through a similar situation.
-
Forum and social media where patients can interact with others and share experiences.
-
Patient Education Days, where both patients and healthcare professionals can come along and learn more about the Mitrofanoff procedure from specialist health professionals, meet other patients, parents, carers, family members, people living with a Mitrofanoff and see the different types of catheters that are available. Children are welcome at these events.
-
Letting patients know they are not alone.
