A new initiative called Mitrofanoff Online Networking Sessions, or MONS for short, has helped the Mitrofanoff Support community come together despite Covid restrictions, social distancing and even lockdowns.
They follow the structure of our Patient Education Days and provide the opportunity to interact with our medical team, sponsors and other Mitrofanoffers in a relaxed, albeit virtual, way. The format includes a pre-recorded video (available on the 'Videos' tab) that mirrors the traditional opening of our PEDs and features Dan Wood, our Patron (and Consultant in Adolescent and Reconstructive Urology, UCLH) and Sharon Fillingham, Adult Nurse Advisor (and Urinary Diversion CPF/Psychosexual Therapist, UCLH). There are also contributions from our sponsors and we thank them for their ongoing support.
On the day there is a live Q&A with our expert panel, an opportunity to visit our sponsors exhibition to discuss their latest products, and informal breakout groups. Feedback was very positive after the first event in September:
“Really useful to chat and ask questions with people who have firsthand experience. It was great to also have a doctor and nurses available to answer questions too.”
“An excellent session - I may not have come to a 'real' event but found this really useful”
“A good atmosphere; good questions; and very helpful answers. All given freely - thank you very much.”
Look out for more MONS coming up in 2021!
