What is a Mitrofanoff operation?
Professor Paul Mitrofanoff created the Mitrofanoff (mi-trof-fan-off) procedure in 1976, also known as the Mitrofanoff Appendiciovesicostomy or a Continent Urinary Diversion.
-
A Mitrofanoff is a channel from your abdomen (tummy) to your bladder….can be sited elsewhere
-
This means that you can pass a catheter into your bladder from the channel opening on your tummy as before and empty your urine.
-
You will probably have to do this about 6 times a day.
